2 days back, I read the SIN CHEW PLUS and the main page of it really attracted me! "4.30 國際不打小孩日--不打小孩,打造愛的家". In English it means, "30th of April International Spank Out Day--Not To Spank Children, Build The Home of Love".
When reading the title, I felt that the children nowadays is very lucky and filling with happiness. When I was small, there are many times that I spanked by my mother for being naughty and doing wrong things but I could not remember why exactly I was being spanked. :P
Before read the article, I have no idea that on 30th of April is Spank Out Day, a day of non-violence against children. This was initiated in year 1998 by Center for Effective Discipline (CED) and sponsor by End Physical Punishment of Children (EPOCH-USA) to give widespread to the need to end corporal punishment of children and to promote non-violent ways of teaching children appropriate behavior.
This was originally promoted in America only, but slowly it widespread to the rest of the world, now included Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kenya, UK, Canada, New Zealand, India, Australia, Sri Lanka and many more other countries. I sense that the world now have changed, and it keeps changing. Few yeas back, children are being spanked when behave naughty, this action was done to teach them not to do the same mistake again and also a warning to them. Now, the teaching way is totally not same anymore...
